Liberty League announces 2015 Women's Soccer Awards; Longo selected Player of the Year
2015 ALL-LIBERTY LEAGUE WOMEN'S SOCCER AWARDS
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Krista Longo, Sr., Forward, William Smith College
For the third consecutive season, a William Smith senior has been selected the Liberty League Player of the Year. Krista Longo leads the Herons offensively with a team-high 11 goals and 25 points. She also leads the league with 4.18 shots per game and she is second in points (1.47) as well as goals per game (.647). Longo registered two hat tricks this season and she netted a goal in both of William Smith’s 2015 Liberty League playoff games this year as the Herons captured their ninth straight league title.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Zoe Jackson Gibson, Sr., Defender, William Smith College
William Smith defender Zoe Jackson Gibson earned Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year honors for a second straight season. Jackson Gibson anchors the Herons back line that allowed a league-low four goals this season as the team posted 16 victories, including a 13-game shutout streak. As a team, William Smith is ranked among the top-five nationally in shutout percentage (2nd, .882) and goals against average (0.17). The Herons are riding a 15-game unbeaten streak as they head into the NCAA tournament.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Rebecca Andrews, Fr., Midfielder/Forward, Vassar College
A starter of 13 games for the Brewers, freshman midfielder/forward Rebecca Andrews paced the team with seven goals and two assists for a team-high 16 points. She ended her rookie campaign by registering a point in four of the last five games of the season. Andrews was ranked among league leaders in shots (10th, 34 shots) goals (4th, 7 goals) and game-winning goals (3rd, 3 goals).

The Bard College coaching staff directed the Raptors to its most successful season to date since joining the Liberty League in 2011. Bard finished the season an 8-8-1 overall record and a 2-6-0 mark in Liberty League play. It is also the first time since 2010 the Raptors have had more than five wins in the regular season. To cap off the 2015 campaign, the Raptors clinched a postseason berth in the ECAC Women’s Soccer Metro/Upstate Tournament for the first time since 2010.
