St. Lawrence earns third straight Liberty League women's outdoor track & field title

Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Meet Results 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – St. Lawrence junior Divya Biswal won three indivdual events, setting two Liberty League meet records as the Saints captured nine event victories en route to a third consecutive Liberty League women’s outdoor track and field championship.
 
St. Lawrence captured the team title with 218 points, followed by RPI (149), RIT (119), Vassar (99), Union (18), and Bard (3). Eight Liberty League championship records fell in a competitive women’s meet on the campus of RIT.
 
Biswal was named women’s Field Athlete of the Meet as she set a Liberty League meet record in winning the women’s long jump with a 5.53-meter mark, surpassing the previous mark of 5.36 meters recorded in 2012. The junior then set another meet record in the triple jump with a 11.75-meter mark, breaking her own record of 11.63 meters set last season. The Saints earned additional victories from senior Amy Cymerman in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Caitlin Boreyko in pole vault, sophomore Marisa Turner in high jump, junior Carly Stine in the 400 meters, senior Ariel Beccia in the 5,000 and the 4x400-meter relay team. 
 
RPI finished second with 149 points led by Rookie of the Meet, Vicky Buehler. The freshman finished second in the women’s high jump (1.59 meters), second in the long jump (4.97 meters), and third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.15). Graduate student Lydia Frangos and freshman Melinda Wilson also turned in record-setting performances for the Engineers. Frangos set a record in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.06 meters, besting the previous record of 52.40 meters set in 2010. Wilson set a Liberty League meet record in the discus with a mark of 38.15.
 
RIT finished in third with 119 points. Junior Stephanie Milici opened the meet by winning the 10,000-meter run in record time of 38:38.48. Fellow junior Amanda White also captured a victory in the 800 meters in 2:21.21 to lead the Tigers.
 
The Vassar women finished fourth with 99 points thanks to three record-setting performances. Track Athlete of the Meet Ariel Bridges set a record in the women’s 200 meters, winning in a time of 25.46. Bridges, a junior, also captured with women’s 100-meter title in 12.55. Junior Heather Ingraham surpassed the previous record in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 57.07. Vassar’s third record was set by the 4x400 relay team, winning in a time of 4:00.35.

The top two finishers in each event earned All-Liberty League honors.
