RPI captures sixth straight Liberty League men's outdoor track and field championship

Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field Meet Results

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RPI senior Zac Borrelli won three indivdual events as the Engineers captured 10 men’s event victories en route to a sixth straight Liberty League men’s outdoor track and field championship. RPI earned the men’s team title with 281.33 points, followed by St. Lawrence (127), RIT (92), Union (54), Vassar (48), and Bard (17.66).
 
Borrelli, a senior, was named Field Athlete of the Meet after earning victories in the discus (46.29 meters), hammer throw (53.44 meters), and shot put (15.08 meters). Sophomore Bobby Parker set a Liberty League record in winning the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:07.08, eclipsing the pervious mark of 15:08.29 set by St Lawrence’s John Ostler in 2007.
 
The Engineers received additional event victories from Dylan Landry in the 400-meter dash, Alex Delaney the 400-meter hurdles, Aldous Strother the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Zach Vanderzee the 800 meters, Jacob Andrews in the 10,000 meters, and Stephen Silber in the high jump.
 
St. Lawrence finished second with 127 points led by Rookie of the Meet Karim Creary. The freshman participated on the winning 4x100 relay team which finished first with a time of 42.55. Creary added a second-place finish in the 100 meters in 11.26, a third-place performance in the 200 meters (22.66), and a fourth-place in the triple jump (12.48 meters). 
 
RIT men finished in third place with 92 points. The Tigers captured a victory in the men’s 4x400-meter relay in 3:25.62. Senior Marquis Moore won the triple jump (13.59 meters), junior Joe Cronin captured the pole vault title clearing 4.35 meters, and freshman Jared Athias won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.31.
 
Union finished fourth with 54 points, led by senior Tosin Kazeem who earned Men’s Track Athlete of the Meet honors. Kazeem took home first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.86 to break the Union school record in the event. He also took home first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83 seconds. Both times qualified Kazeem for the ECAC Championships.

The top two finishers in each event earn All-Liberty League honors.
