14 from Liberty League earn USILA All-America honors in men’s lacrosse

A total of 14 Liberty League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were selected as USILA All-Americans. League teams combined for two first-team selections, two second-team selections, one third-team choice and nine receiving honorable mention recognition.
Five Liberty League teams were represented on the USILA All-America teams. Rochester Institute of Technology, which earned a second straight Liberty League title and has earned a berth in the Division III national championship game, landed a program record eight players on the All-America teams. Clarkson and St. Lawrence had two each with Skidmore and Union receiving one selection each.

Jack Krzyston, the 2013 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-Liberty League selection, leads the Tigers in scoring with 78 points on 51 goals and 27 assists. He is averaging 3.71 points per game this season and has recorded at least one point in 20 of 21 games. Krzyston scored two goals and added an assist in the National Semifinal last Sunday at Cortland. On May 11, he became the 41st player in the history of RIT men’s lacrosse to surpass 100 career points.
Elliott Cowburn, one of four team captains, has played in 20 games this season for RIT. The senior defenseman has helped RIT's defense hold opponents to 7.24 goals per game, which is 23rd in Division III. Cowburn, a 2013 All-Liberty League first team selection and a 2012 All-Liberty League honorable mention selection and, leads the team with 27 caused turnovers and has 68 ground balls on the season. Last Sunday, Cowburn caused two turnovers and had five two ground balls in the win over Cortland.
Pat Johnston, a 2013 All-Liberty League first team selection and the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, has started all 21 games in net for the Tigers, posting a 19-2 record and is 16th in Division III with a 6.78 goals against average and fifth with a .652 save percentage. The three-time Liberty League defensive player of the week has double-digit saves in 17 of RIT’s 21 games, and made a career-high 21 stops against Union in the Liberty League Tournament semifinals.
Kyle Aquin, one of four team captains, is third on the team in scoring with 68 points and leads the team with 58 goals to go along with 10 assists. He scored at least one goal in all 21 games this season, and has a goal in 28 straight games dating back to April 21, 2012. He led the Liberty League, averaging 2.81 goals per game, and has a program-record 17 man-up goals on the season. His 58 goals ties him with Marc Heagney for fifth all-time in program history for goals in one season. He tallied a career-high six goals versus Cabrini in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on May 11.
Mike Perlow, a 2013 Third team selection, becomes only the second player in the program's history to be named All-American three times, joining class of 2006 graduate, Tom Spinella. Perlow notched 40 points this season including a team-high 34 goals. His 153 shots were tops in the Liberty League, 28 shots ahead of second place. He was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection by the Liberty League for the second time in his career, while earning a first-team nod three of his four seasons. Perlow finished his career in a Thoroughbred uniform with an impressive 123 points including 99 goals and 24 assists.
Corey Herrington, a sophomore midfielder, was Clarkson’s leading offensive threat with 46 points overall on 19 goals and 27 assists through 16 games. He was second in the Liberty League in conference points and the league’s top playmaker. In six Liberty League contests, he averaged 3.67 points per game on 11 goals and 11 assists.
Eddie Kiesa has played in all 21 games this season, and is second on the team in scoring with 71 points on 41 goals and 30 assists. He scored a career high six goals in a win over Skidmore on April 20, and tallied two goals and an assist in the overtime win versus Cortland.
Brian Wilber helped anchor the conference's stingiest defense this spring, allowing the fewest goals in the Liberty League. His defensive efforts included 22 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers while starting in all 15 games for the Scarlet and Brown. His final season produced two firsts, including First Team All-Conference and All-America honors.
A senior midfielder,
Brendan Shearin was Clarkson’s second-leading goal scorer with 24 tallies through 16 games. A first team All-Liberty League selection, Shearin was also selected to play in the prestigious USILA North/South Senior Division III All-Star Game on May 24.
Allister Warren has scored at least one point in all 21 games this season. He is tied with Wisman for fourth on the team in scoring with 58 points on 36 goals and 22 assists. Warren tallied a season-high six points on four goals and two assists in a win over Endicott on March 17, and scored the dramatic game-winning goal on the hidden ball trick in the semifinals last Sunday at Cortland.
Taylor Wisman is tied with Warren for fourth on the team in scoring with 58 points on 27 goals and a team-leading 31 assists. His recorded the assist on Warren’s game-winning overtime goal at Cortland last Sunday. Wisman became the 40th player in RIT history to reach 100 career points and has 110 career points on 46 goals and 64 assists.
Union’s top defensive midfielder, senior
Kyle Christine had 20 ground balls and five caused turnovers to go along with a goal and three assists in 15 games in 2013. The Skaneateles, NY native was a four-year starter at midfield, not missing a game in his career. He recorded 10 goals and two assists in 66 career games and added 112 career ground balls to go along with 14 caused turnovers.
Mac Keehfus has started all 21 games this season for RIT, tallying six points on four goals and two assists to go along with 52 ground balls. The junior defensive midfielder has helped RIT's defense hold opponents to 7.24 goals per game, which is ranked, 23rd in Division III. Keehfus had four ground balls and added an assist in RIT’s 10-9 overtime win at Cortland in the semifinals last Sunday.
Cam Scullen led St. Lawrence with 65 ground balls while chipping in 14 caused turnovers. He added five points on two goals and three assists and was a key both offensively and defensively in the transition game. Scullen also earned First Team All-Liberty League honors this season, closing his career as a two-time Liberty League honoree and All-America status.
