WOMEN'S SOCCER: Davis earns Player of the Year as All-Liberty League women's soccer teams are announced

2011 Liberty League Women's Soccer Awards

Player of the Year: Amanda Davis, Sr., Goalkeeper, William Smith College

William Smith College senior goalkeeper Amanda Davis was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year in women's soccer. Davis sits atop Division III with a 0.06 goals against average and a .955 save percentage. She leads the Liberty League and ranks fifth on the William Smith list for shutouts in a season with 11 this fall. Davis has allowed just one goal all season. She has posted a 15-0-1 record in goal, which puts her tied for sixth on the Heron all-time list for wins in a season. Davis's 56 career wins ranks third in program history. She was named Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week once, and earned all-league honors for the fourth straight year.

Defensive Player of the Year: Alyse DiCenzo, Sr., Defender, William Smith College

Senior Alyse DiCenzo, the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, anchors the William Smith defense that leads the nation with a 0.06 goals against average. The Herons also ranks first in the country in shutout percentage (.933) and save percentage (.955). DiCenzo, a starter in every game, plays an integral role in the defensive unit that is averaging just 1.38 shots on goal allowed per game. The Herons lead the Liberty League with a total of 65 shots allowed and 22 shots on goal allowed all season.

Rookie of the Year: Dineo Mmutla, Fr., Forward, William Smith College

William Smith freshman forward Dineo Mmutla leads William Smith with eight goals and 20 points. She has also recorded four assists. A starter in all 16 games, Mmutla ranks fourth in the Liberty League in points, fourth in goals and is tied for ninth in assists. She is tied atop the conference with four game-winning goals. Mmutla has registered at least one point in eight games, and has logged two or more points in six matches. She has recorded 11 points in the last three matches, including two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over St. Lawrence in the Liberty League tournament semifinal. Mmutla has garnered the league Rookie of the Week award four times this season.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Sarah Raymond, Rachael Sushner, Clarkson University

Clarkson University head coach Sarah Raymond gained her first-ever Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year award, leading the Golden Knights to their first winning season since 1992 with a mark of 8-7-1 overall. Clarkson's defensive efforts were solid all year long, allowing fewer than a goal per game for the first time in the history of the 30-year-old program.
